WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU AS AN ARTIST:
First, find a group of people you can trust as bandmates. Your band should consist of people who you can easily communicate with so that everyone is on the same page. If you're a solo artist, make sure that your live-show is something we won't forget. Next, come up with at least two original songs that represent your band’s style and displays your talent. Covers of classic hits should be developed into a unique version of your own, but we do require originals, since we are looking for artists to help develop.
Consider your artist name/band as your brand! It's time to not only think as musicians, but think as a business entrepreneurs. Record labels, and professionals within the industry appreciate bands who know how to do things on their own, as it shows professionalism and seriousness. Make your artist/band name creative, catchy and memorable. Come up with a cool logo. Promote yourself on a regular basis by using social media as much as you can. Post status updates on Facebook, videos on YouTube, pictures on Instagram, tweet at other bands, tweet at us and create conversations, create an event page with future shows, and chat with fans. Make your songs available forstreaming on bandcamp, soundcloud, or your webpage. Think of social media platforms as your opportunity to have an online presence. It’s a way for fans to see how you perform on and off stage. By using online platforms, it gives fans an opportunity to show what's going with your band behind the scenes as well, giving them a sense of transparency and intimacy.
Having a solid fan base is essential. Loyal fans can spread the word about your band by bringing their friends along to the show. Reach out to your fan base, create conversations and interaction, and generate positive feelings about your band by utilizing social media, and putting on a show that will make people come back. Sell merchandise so that fans can support local music and remember your band at the same time. This is all part of your branding. You can pray to the music gods that you will make it big, but in all reality, it is all about hard work and drive that will amplify your band's success in the long run.
When you have a clear vision and dedicated group, consider taking time to go on tour with other bands in nearby cities. Make connections with musicians and perform together while pushing for your sound to be heard. This is where Landmark Events comes in to play since LME is a community of artists and musicians who you can network with to create links within the music industry and music communities. WHAT TO EXPECT FROM LME:
Each LME event displays a stylistic variety of artists and musical acts that range from metal to folk, or rap, R&B, to alternative rock, depending on what artists are selected. We want to display musicians who are confident and up and coming in the local music scene.
There are three levels of showcase events, starting with preliminary trials, where bands are chosen from a panel of music industry reps to move on to semi-finals and final rounds. The judges vary depending on the location of each showcase, but are often times directly involved in music production, licensing, global distribution, record labels, A&R and management. See a list of our judges who have attended out events: JUDGING PANEL
The benefit of showcasing with Landmark Events is that each band receives the judges feedback sheet that details strengths and weaknesses that you or a band can focus on to improve. You are also welcome to speak to the judges about your performance, which is very useful to give you professional feedback. You should really take their advice into consideration - they do after all, do this for a living.
The top selected artists from each of our showcase final festivals will also receive the following: recording time at high end studios with producers, non-exclusive licensing contracts, global distribution, publicity campaigns for radio and print, professional music videos, all expenses paid industry showcase out of town in front of various industry representatives, and in-house consultations and strategy planning with us.
We are looking for talented artists and bands, that we can show to our network in the music industry, independent or major labels, and other representatives.
