Montreal Semi-Final Recap
At Le National June 28, 2014
Pardon the delay guys, we have been super busy with events and artist meetings over the past month! Now that we have some time to update the LME Community on our blog, here is a recap of our event at Le National on June 28. We had an amazing experience with all of the bands who came out and made some new friends and connections along the way that we would like to share with you! Hope you enjoy reading!
We held our semi-final round of the Montreal showcase on a beautiful Sunday in late June. For those who missed out, Le National is an intimate venue where the sound fills the room. The judging panel and industry representatives of the event looked on from the balcony to oversee the performance and crowd participation. The judges present were Marie-Neige Chatelain from Indica Records and Paul Galatti from Whammo/Universal. The judges were extremely impressed with the caliber of talent coming from the 18 music acts who performed. We even think that there may have been some friendly competition between the judges over who were record deal worthy! We don't want to spoil any surprises but we are super excited about that!

Our featured artists of the evening were Stained Glass Army, who won our last Toronto Showcase Festival. We invited them to perform in front a new crowd of locals from Montreal as a way to expand their fan base. Also featured was Eagle I Stallian, who closed out the end of the event with house music in an LME after-party.
The artists who are moving on to the next round of this showcase will be playing in the final event at Club Soda on September 13! We are pleased to invite back to the stage Empty Yellers, We Need Some, The Wastelanders, Interdrive, Walking Motionless, Tricia Fitz, and Sara Baxter. For those musicians who didn’t make it, stay positive and motivated to make it out for our next showcase event. You never know who is going to be in the crowd, so keep rocking!
Empty Yellers – Can we just say that this three girls and one guy group has really got it going on. The vocals are FAR from empty…man, they can really sing!! On top of that, their instrumentals help drive the strength of their music. Give them a listen and you won’t regret.https://www.facebook.com/emptyellers

Interdrive – Now this band is legit!! They were one of the favorites at our event because of their energy that revved up the crowd. Not only can they rock but they show support for all of the other musicians who come out to perform and that is something we respect. Return the favor and like them on facebook! https://www.facebook.com/interdrivemontreal
Walking Motionless – We are excited this group of young and talented guys have made it to the next round. Well-deserved after hearing their set at Le National. Walking Motionless will keep classic rock alive, ya dig!? Their facebook and youtube pages

We Need Some – This progressive rock group blew us away with wicked bass lines and heavy hitting drums in a powerful performance that displayed their talents as musicians. The group definitely has good chemistry together! Look at their facebook page and myspace profile for more info.

The Wastelanders – They are an indie – folk group, complete with seven members, who bring us back to our folk roots with their music. Their performance fit the setting perfectly at Le National. LME marketing manager Jey loves this group! You can check out a couple songs on their soundcloud https://soundcloud.com/the-wastelanders or simply like them on facebook - https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Wastelanders/495859267136136
Tricia Fitz – Accompanied by her bass player Francois, Tricia Fitz sang original works that captured the hearts of everyone in the crowd at Le National. We are excited to see her perform at Club Soda! Here is her facebook https://www.facebook.com/pages/Tricia-Fitz/325791007437004
Sara Baxter – She is definitely a force to be reckoned with! Her fearlessness as a performer will get her far. Other artists should pay attention to Sara pave the way to musical success. Check her out on facebook and youtube –https://www.facebook.com/sarabaxtermusic www.youtube.com/sarabaxt
