How Instagram Brought Two Artists Together from
Across The Globe:
Good Life - Encure feat. Jey Flores

Social Media, is not only important in marketing yourself as an artist, but it is IMPERATIVE. Making sure that you are on all social platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, gives you a lot more advantage than if you weren't connected to the virtual community.
For our Marketing Director, Jennifer, aka Jey Flores, Social Media has not only helped her promote herself as an artist, but has also connected her to the international music community! She has recently come back from her trip to Stuttgart, Germany, where she completed her new track with German producers "Encure".
We asked Jey how important she thinks Social Media is, how important collaborations are, and how it has helped her.
First of all, how was your trip, and how did you end up collaborating with producers all the way in Germany, for your new track "Good Life" ?
Jey: "My trip was fantastic. I really enjoyed visiting Stuttgart, and Nico and Theo (Encure) were amazingly hospitable towards me. It's crazy how you can just meet people on Social Media a few weeks prior, and then all of a sudden you're flying to Germany to meet them and work with them.
The story of our collab is actually pretty awesome, and it shows you how powerful social media is. One day, I checked my Instagram notifications, and I was tagged by producers Encure. I checked out the post, and it was a 15 second video of a new deep house production they were working on, and they asked me if I'd be interested in singing on the track. I listened to it, and instantly loved the vibe - so I told them to email me! We ended up corresponding, made the deal and the rest was history!"
In your own experience, how has Social Media helped you?
Jey: "Well, if it wasn't for Social Media, I wouldn't have gotten this awesome opportunity to network with such talented artists, like Encure. So not only is it a great way to promote yourself, but it's an amazing way to meet new artists from all over the world, network and collaborate with them on a great song."
What was the inspiration behind the song "Good Life"?
Jey: "My first impression of the sound was that it was very summery. I had also asked Encure what they felt about it, and they said, something along the lines of summer, having fun, etc. When I wrote the lyrics to this song, I'd have to say I got inspired by summers in Montreal. After 6 months of harsh winters here, all of us just want to feel the heat, see the sun, party, go to festivals, meet new people and have a great time. Summer for us, is like giving life to the city again, after the dead of winter. I also wrote about living in the moment, and enjoying life as it comes - therefore enjoying the Good Life."
Now that you and Encure have completed the track for "Good Life", how are you utilizing Social Media to promote it?
Jey: "Social Media isn't easy, but if you are smart about it, it's a great promotional tool. We've created a preview video on YouTube of our song, and tweeted it out to our followers, posted the preview on Facebook, and Instagram. We've gotten a great response so far from DJs, radio and audiences asking for the track. We've also gotten offers from record labels in Europe to release the song - so it is really getting exciting for us!"
Why do you think it's important to network with international artists?
Jey: "Opportunity. Collaborations with other artists in different markets can expand your fan base, for sure. Encure is from Stuttgart, Germany, and I'm from Montreal, Canada. By collaborating, we're co-creating our brands, and cross-promoting each other in our respective markets. Montreal will know of Encure, and Stuttgart will know of Jey Flores. I think that's a great thing for both of us!"
