Artist Spotlight:

Alkatine

Article by: Julien Renvoisé

After 50 years of growth and development since The Who first hit the stage, the power trio with added vocalist has become one of Rock n’ roll’s classic formations. Although it has come in many shapes and colors from Led Zeppelin to Tool, the iconic four-piece always seems to follow some guidelines: a solid rhythm section that is held together by a powerful drummer and tight bassist is complemented by energetic riffs and powerhouse vocals.

In this context one can imagine that it would be hard to be innovative. Yet Calgary-based band and LME top performers Alkatine have managed to create their own brand of rock n’ roll which follows the canons of the genre while bringing their own energy and sound into the equation.

Artist Spotlight:

Ruined Escape Plan

Picture
Top Row: Matthew Plested, Maria Pelletier Bottom Row: Reid Leclair, Kyle Hansen
Formed in 2008, out of a musical passion that guitarist member Kyle Hansen visioned. With the help of vocalist Maria Pelletier, both musical visionaries knew that they had to pursuit their love for music. They set out to find colleagues and friends who would share their similar interest of expressing themselves through lyrics and had the same level of commitment and dedication.

This level of commitment and dedication was proven when the band decided to relocate to Edmonton, Alberta due to the larger artists community and a more interactive music scene. The open embrace showed by the Edmonton crowd made it all the more easier for this band to welcome their new fans as they continue to rock the Edmonton stage.

With killer vocals, sick riffs and a united group, it was no surprise that this band took home 5th place at Landmark Events Edmonton Showcase Festival. These are just few reasons why this talented band are being featured  in our artist spotlight segment.

We'll Be Rockin' The PHI Centre, July 4th #MTL

On July 4th, Landmark Events will be hosting another preliminary round for talented Montreal artists and bands. The event is taking place at Phi Center, which is located in the heart of Old Montreal - 5 min walk from the metro station Square Victoria.

Picture
We will be welcoming back TAYLOR & BRYN as our featured artist. The TAYLOR & BRYN sound is a distinctive blend of innovation and musicianship that evokes jazz standards, 70's pop, folk, rock, soul, hip hop, show tunes and beyond — a bright, bold sound that’s equal parts distinct, refreshing, and accessible. Taylor & Bryn's live shows are high-energy infusions of melody, wit, soaring harmonies, sophisticated guitar parts, and beat-boxing harmonica.

If you’re a fan, you’ll know why, out of hundreds of acts and three elimination rounds, the duo took 1st place in our Toronto 2014 Landmark Events Showcase Festival.

The duo will release their first EP in 2015, produced by veteran producer-mixer Glen Robinson (The Beach Boys, Rolling Stones, David Bowie, etc).
